is there anything better than a baby girl's nursery?
So Alexa and I commenced the day with a late start, followed by an inventory of the baby room at her request. She likes every week or so to sift through the menagerie of baby clothes coming in by the boat load from good hearted family and friends. They cannot help themselves when it comes to all things pink and frilly. I mean...really, is there anything more irresistible than this? We are drowning in pink tulle, pink bloomers and, well, pink everything.
Anyway, we decided to do a final walk through this morning and clean up the baby room, which included Alexa organizing the above baby clothes in the closet by age category. She even insisted on orienting every dress and outfit to hang in the same direction on the hangers. She is very much her father's child. We then decided to take some photos of the baby room, the baby room the baby will probably never sleep in since we're moving in the very near future. BUT...it's still her first official room, so we wanted to commemorate it somehow. So...here it is, baby girl's room!
Sadly, you can't even tell how beautiful the walls are in the room, thanks to aforementioned crappy camera. They are a soft pink rosebeige, so subtle you can't quite decide if you're looking at cream or pink walls.
I love her bedding, and I love her first teddy bear, anxiously awaiting her arrival home. Alexa loves Teddy, too.
As if the closet wasn't full already, baby girl already has a chest full of clothes too. We have seriously bought exactly five outfits for baby girl since finding out we were pregnant. The rest is ALL from family and friends. Everybody loves a little girl!
One of the crowning jewels of the room is canvas art work created by my friend L. I hate to sound like a broken record here, but the pictures don't do them justice! She chose all of the fabrics for the art work by hand (including buying some of my bedding and cutting it up to fit the canvas!), and then cut patterns of birds and nature scenes by hand and applied them to the canvas. They're just beautiful!
There are many more special things we photographed today with the real camera that I'll have to share later. Baby girl has a very full bookshelf all her own, a huge ivory chenille rocker (more for me than her!), and lots of little touches that I can't properly highlight with a cell phone camera. Since it will only be her room the first three weeks of her life or so, I guess I'll have to do nursery round two when we get to the new house.

I had the same thing happen -- pink and frill hand-me-downs...and I finally figured it out.
The people passing stuff along to me had other babies in their immediate circle.
So they put all the pink and frilly in one pile for the girls, and everything else in another pile for the boys.
Dang.
(pink and frilly not really being my thing at the time....)
